If you want an amplifier

If you want an artisan, hand-made, one-of-a-kind valve amplifier built - welcome! I can design and build for you a completely unique amplifier that exactly meets your requirements.

As the customer you have a stake in the design process right from the beginning. Both in terms of features and aesthetics. You can choose your amplifier features, and how you want it to look.

I will do the electronic design, and source or make the parts necessary to achieve the aesthetics you are looking for.

If you're interested, the first step is we have a chat, during which you can tell me what you're looking for and I can make suggestions and offer advice if needed.

Sound good? Hold up though, there are a few important caveats I need to flag before we go any further:

  1. I am not a company, this is purely a paying hobby for me
  2. Since I am a hobbyist, I have to order small quantities of parts as I need them. This has an impact on my costs
  3. These amplifiers are hand-built by a hobbyist. Consequently they will not have the factory-perfect finish of a commercial product. You will end up with something that looks like a cross between steampunk and industrial.
  4. This is my hobby and I have a paying job that gets in the way. That paying job sends me overseas quite regularly, so my absolute minimum order-to-delivery time is three months, depending on the complexity of your project, and the amount of time I'm at home to progress it.
  5. Valve amplifiers are large and heavy. Shipping is expensive.
  6. Speaking of expensive - like any unique or artisan product, the prices reflect the amount of work necessary to hand-build it. I am not using mass produced assemblies or kitsets, these are all hand designed and made. And, as a hobbyist, I have to pay retail prices for parts in small quantities, and those costs include GST and/or international shipping. Unless I want to lose money, I need to pass these costs on.
Translation: I'm not making a lot of money on these, but I need to cover my costs.
